COALINGA – The West Hills College Coalinga offense came alive on Thursday as the Falcons erupted for numerous season-highs in a 22-14 victory over visiting Porterville College in both teams' Central Valley Conference opener.

West Hills' 22 runs, 18 RBI, 14 hits, 10 walks, and 8 stolen bases were the most in 16 games this season.

The Falcons actually trailed early after allowing 5 runs to Porterville in the top of the first and were down 11-6 after the top of the fourth.

But West Hills exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Alyssa Maldonado had a huge game at the plate, going 4 for 5 with 8 RBI, a pair of doubles, and 4 runs. Denea Ojeda was a perfect 4 for 4, scoring 4 runs with a triple while driving in one. Devree Godinez smashed a two-run home run and walked 4 times. She scored 5 runs in the contest.

The Falcon improved to 4-12 overall and 1-0 in Central Valley Conference play. They are back in action on March 5 at home against Reedley College.
