Falcons' Emma Silva named 3CFCA Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES, CA — Redwoods' Sadie Hampton and West Hills Coalinga's Emma Silva have been named the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches (3CFCA) Players of the Week. 

Hampton led the Corsairs to a pair of wins last week in dominating fashion, tallying three hits in an 11-6 win over Mendocino and adding another three hits in a 14-5 victory in the second game of the doubleheader. The shortstop highlighted the week with her first career home run in the opener. With a pair of runners on base, she sent a shot over the fence and rounded second before she realized she had left the yard.

Hampton finished the week with six hits with a double, four runs, and four RBIs. She currently leads Redwoods and ranks fifth in the state with 23 hits. She also ranks seventh in the state in doubles (6) and sixth in triples (3). She also boasts a .500 batting average on the season.

Silva was lights out in the circle for West Hills. The ace struck out an incredible 23 batters in just 12 innings of work. She struck out 10 against Ohlone and followed that up with 13 strikeouts in a five-inning 18-0 win over Cerro Coros. She finished the week with a 1.17 ERA, two earned runs, and just four walks in two complete games.
