Falcons close non-conference schedule with loss at San Jose


In its final contest before Central Valley Conference play begins, the West Hills College Coalinga men's basketball team suffered a 78-63 loss at San Jose City College on Saturday night.

The Falcons held a narrow 36-33 lead at halftime but couldn't hang on for the win. Fredery Cuello scored a team-high 16 points and had 3 assists in the loss.

West Hills also got double-digit scoring from Trevin Levy (11 points) and J'Lens Sims (10 points) while Tyrell Edwards came off the bench to score 9 points.

The Falcons were outrebounded 43-25 in the contest and had a tough time containing San Jose's Decaurey Brown. He led all with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.

West Hills is still in search of its first win and fell to 0-14 with the defeat. The Falcons return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 8) when they travel to College of the Sequoias for both teams' Central Valley Conference opener at 7 p.m.
