West Hills College Coalinga sophomore Dwan James ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns while sophomore Jonathan Murphy (pictured) caught six passes for 80 yards in a 66-12 Falcons' loss to visiting Modesto Junior College on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

The game started well for the Falcons' defense as it forced a punt and fumble while allowing just a field goal to the Pirates over their first three possessions. West Hills trailed 3-0 after the first quarter before Modesto blew the game open with three unanswered touchdowns.

Down 24-0, the Falcons finally found the end zone with James' four-yard touchdown run with 53 seconds left in the second. The extra point kick was blocked and the Falcons trailed 24-6. After the ensuing kickoff, Danny Velasquez tossed a 65-yard TD pass to Lucas Curtis to send Modesto into halftime with a commanding 31-6 lead.

James closed out the Falcons' scoring at the 8:27 mark in the third quarter. His two-yard TD run capped a nine-play, 57-yard drive for West Hills. The Falcons' two-point PAT run failed and West Hills trailed 38-12.

From that point, it was all Modesto.  The Pirates scored the game's final 28 points and went on to total 567 yards of offense.

The Falcons had 332 yards of offense in the contest, led by 118 passing yards by Izaak Lindgren. He completed 7-of-10 attempts but had one interception. William Weinmann was 6-for-8 passing for 37 yards.

On defense, Jhrquez Teagal and Dashawn Holliman both had seven tackles each while Elijah Thomas had his squad's lone sack to go with four tackles.

West Hills dropped to 0-7 overall 0-2 in Valley League play. The Falcons next shot at their first win will be next Saturday (Nov. 2) at College of the Sequoias. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
