West Hills College Coalinga sophomore Dwan James ran for 83 yards and a touchdown but it was the Sierra College offense that put up big numbers to hand the Falcons a 69-32 loss in Rocklin on Saturday.

West Hills (0-3) had a tough time containing the Wolverines offense as Sierra (1-2) totaled 713 yards in the contest, getting 420 passing yards from a pair of quarterbacks and 293 yards rushing. West Hills had 441 yards of total offense and despite the loss had more first downs (24-23) than Sierra.

Sierra scored touchdowns on its first three drives of the game and took a 21-7 lead after one quarter. James' one-yard TD plunge at the 5:51 mark in the first capped a 10-play, 62-yard drive for the Falcons to get them on the scoreboard.

 In the second, the West Hills defense came up big to set up the offense. Nylan Bryant intercepted Sierra quarterback Qyntyn Pilcher's pass deep in Sierra territory and ran it back eight yards to the Wolverines' eight-yard line. Two plays later, Tristan Eames forced his way in from a yard out for the West Hills touchdown. The Falcons couldn't convert the PAT kick and trailed 21-13 with 12:06 to play in the second quarter.

As time expired in the half, Cannon Eames connected on a 21-yard field goal to send West Hills into the locker room at the break down 34-16.

Eames came back again in the third quarter to hit a 26-yard field goal and cut the Sierra lead to 34-19 at the 10:36 mark. But the Wolverines responded with four unanswered touchdowns to secure their victory.

William Weinmann tossed a 26-yard TD pass to Jonathan Murphy with 7:01 to go in the fourth quarter and Andrew Davis closed out the West Hills scoring with his three-yard TD run at the 2:16 mark.

Tristan Eames completed 12-of-26 passes for 174 yards to lead the Falcons. Izaak Lindgren was a perfect 3-for-3 with 54 yards while Weinmann went 2-for-4 with 52 yards.

Preston Conti was the Falcons' top receiver with three catches for 77 yards. On defense, Joel Galvan had a team-high eight tackles and broke up a pass.

West Hills will look to get into the win column when it returns to action next Saturday (Sep. 28) at 2 p.m. when it hosts defending state champion Laney College.
