Falcons hammer Gavilan 12-3 for second straight win

West Hills College Coalinga totaled 15 hits while freshman Seth Goodrich scattered five hits over six innings to help lead the Falcons to a 12-3 rout at Gavilan College in Gilroy on Tuesday.

After dropping its first four games of the season, West Hills has won consecutive games to improve to 2-4 overall.

Goodrich struck out six over his six-inning effort in earning the win. He allowed a run in the third inning and a final run in the sixth before exiting the ball game.

But it was the West Hills offense that came to play. The Falcons scored 12 runs for the second time this season despite only one going for extra bases against the Rams.

The Falcons took a 3-0 lead in the second and blew the game open with a five-run, third-inning rally.

Thursday's walk-off hero, Agustine Castro, went 3 for 4 and scored four runs. Austin Turley had a team-high 3 RBI while going 2 for 5 with a pair of runs. Bennett Hergenroeder (3 for 4), Koki Fukui (2 for 6), and Isaiah Clarke (1 for 5, 2B) all drove in two runs each while Aiden Rocha went 2 for 4 with two runs.

On the mound, Ryuya Kato tossed two innings of scoreless relief before Rene Hernandez closed out the win in the ninth.

West Hills will look to continue its winning streak on Friday (Feb. 7) at 2 p.m. when it opens a three-game series at Butte College. The set concludes on Saturday (Feb. 8) with a doubleheader that starts at 10:30 a.m.
