Falcons shutout at MPC

Freshman Koki Fukui went 2 for 4 from the lead-off spot to lead West Hills College Coalinga at the plate but the Falcons couldn't get much going on offensively in a 6-0 loss at Monterey Peninsula College on Tuesday.

West Hills totaled five hits in the contest but left a combined 11 runners on base. The Falcons had chances to score in the first, second, sixth innings but left a pair of runners stranded on base each frame.

MPC scored twice in the second inning and put the game away with three runs in the sixth.

Seth Goodrich pitched well in his second start of the season despite picking up the loss. He allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits over 4 1/3 innings. Goodrich struck out three and walked three.

The loss dropped West Hills to 0-4. The Falcons will look to snap that string on Thursday (Jan. 30) when they host Monterey Peninsula in a 2 p.m. non-conference game to close out the series.
