Reedley, CA – The West Hills College baseball team dropped Thursday's matchup vs. #2 Reedley by the score of 5-0. The Falcons offense was kept quiet all afternoon and wasn't able to get any momentum going in its favor. Reedley held the Falcons to only five hits all game. In game one of this three game series Reedley took the game 4-2.
Starting pitcher Spencer Hammond entered the day coming off a spectacular performance at Yuba College where he allowed no runs in his complete game shutout. Unfortunately, Hammond did not receive the same run support that he has been getting in his last few outings. Hammond lasted six and one thirds innings while striking out eight Tigers batters and allowing four earned runs.
In the first inning Trent Bollman got the first hit of the day for West Hills with a single down the right field line. Alante Uribe then followed up with a single of his own to put runners at the corners. This would be the only time that the Falcon offense was able to put pressure on the Reedley defense. A fly out to center field got the Tigers out of the inning and stranded two WHCC runners.
With one out in the bottom of the second inning a triple to the left-center gap put Reedley in scoring position. A single up the middle then drove in the first run of the day. In the fifth inning the Tigers were able to earn a leadoff walk that would then come around to make the score 2-0.
Brandon Hernandez got things going in the third inning with a leadoff double to left field. Bollman then came up to bat with one out in the inning and hit a line drive directly at the Tigers second basemen to make it an inning ending double play.
The Tigers were able to string together two base on balls, two hits, and one Falcon error to put together a three run seventh inning. The Reedley pitching staff was able to force weak contact for most of the game to complete the shutout of the Falcons.

The Falcons will try to avoid the sweep and play host to the Tigers again on Saturday, March 11th at Keith Scrivner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
