Glines' 3 RBI's Powers Falcons to Much Needed Road Win Against AVC

The Falcons traveled to Lancaster on Thursday to play their final non-conference contest of the season, as they took on Antelope Valley College. After taking 2 of 3 from Taft College two weeks ago, the Falcons had lost five straight games to Fresno City and Ohlone College, so Thursday's game proved vital to gain some momentum heading back into conference play next week. The Falcons got another solid outing from freshman starting pitcher Brandon Barker, as he kept the Falcons in the game in his five innings. After the Mauraders got staked to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning, the Falcons' offense got to starter Shawn Hunt as Jacob Evangelo led off with a walk and quickly stole 2nd. He was brought home on a RBI single by Alante Uribe. After a walk to Evan Walter and a single by Jake Lorenzini, Mckay Glines hit a single up the middle, which brought home two runs. After an error by the centerfielder loaded the bases, Skylar Frantz hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Lorenzini and put the Falcons up 4-2.

The Falcons added some insurance runs in the top of the 6th as Lorenzini led off the inning with a walk and was bunted over to 2nd. After stealing third, Lorenzini was brought home by another RBI single by Glines. Austin Trinidad reached on an error by the Maurader second baseman, which put runners on 2nd and 3rd, and Frantz hit his 2nd sacrifice fly to center of the game, making the Falcon lead 6-2. After AVC scored in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 6-3, the Falcons got solid relief from pitchers Torin Miller and closer Mack Morford. Miller threw two scoreless innings and Morford gave up one run in the 9th for the save. Barker got the win, as he threw five innings, giving up two runs, while striking out four. The Falcons will host Merced College on Tuesday at 2pm when they resume conference play.
