Goals

Community colleges exist to educate.  To validate the role of intercollegiate athletics the program must contribute to the overall educational process.  It is necessary that this program strives to incorporate the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and cultural aspects of individual development.

The goals of the athletic program are:

  1. To increase the number of students completing degree and/or transferring to a 4-year university every year
  2. To offer equitable athletics participation opportunities for all student-athletes and staff, including women and minorities (as defined under Title IX and the Office of Civil Rights guidelines)
  3. To comply with the rules and regulations of the CCCAA, CVC, NCFC and the NIRA
  4. To protect the health and well-being of student-athletes
  5. To emphasize sportsmanship on the part of both participants and fans during all athletic events
  6. To increase external support for the athletic program to offset operational costs.
