West Hills College Coalinga has named Kalissa Ortega from women's volleyball and Jeremiah Smith from football as its Student-Athletes of the Month for October.

"Kalissa Ortega volunteered to set this season. Having not set in several years, Kalissa was prolific during the month of October running the offense in the absence of Alexia Vancil. She has done nothing but work hard to improve and not let down her team. Jeremiah Smith #21 Sophomore Linebacker from Madras High School (OR)
Smith had 18 tackles, 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss in the month of October. Jeremiah also has a cumulative 3.6 grade point average and has volunteered at both community service projects this month, Coalingafest and the Trunks-For-Treat event at Pleasant Valley Christian Center.
