NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET

The 2023 West Hills College Coalinga women's volleyball season now shifts to the postseason. On Thursday, the Falcons were named the No. 11 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. Postseason brackets were announced by the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) for the both the north and south regions.

As a top-12 seed, West Hills Coalinga received an opening-round bye and will travel to No. 6 Lassen College for a second-round match on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason match are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

West Hills returns to the postseason for the first time since the 2019 season. The Falcons put together an impressive run through its Central Valley Conference schedule to earn a spot in the 2023 playoffs.

Under head coach Jeff Wanderer, the Falcons suffered just two losses in CVC play, both to perennial champion Fresno City College. West Hills went 14-2 in conference action and is 16-8 overall heading into the postseason.

The Falcons will have a tough task in making the nearly 400-mile trip north to Susanville before facing a solid Lassen squad. The Cougars finished second in the Golden Valley Conference at 8-2 and take a 27-4 overall record into Tuesday's match.

West Hills and Lassen will be meeting for the second time this season. On Sep. 1 at the WHC Lemoore tournament, Lassen came out on top 3-1 (25-10, 25-18, 23-25, 25-16).

The winner of Tuesday's contest will move on to a third-round match likely against No. 3 seed and defending state champion Feather River College on Nov. 25.  Two wins are needed by the Falcons to advance to the 3C2A Championships on Dec. 1-3 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
