Falcons take down COS, Porterville to extend winning streak to 5

COALINGA – Zoe Ruskofsky totaled 17 kills and 18 digs while Beth Moreno had 16 kills and 20 digs to help lead West Hills College Coalinga to its fifth consecutive victory, a 3-1 win over visiting Porterville College on Friday.

The Falcons had to recover after dropping the opening set but went on to take the Central Valley Conference match by scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-17. West Hills currently holds second in the conference standings with an impressive 12-1 mark and is now 14-7 overall.

Sarah Wold had a big match with a season-high 50 assists while Tyra Kelly added 11 kills and Kaylee Bayer chipped in with 8 kills and 5 aces.

Earlier in the week, the Falcons needed five sets to win at College of the Sequoias. WHCC won by scores of 14-25, 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 15-10. It was the Falcons' second five-set match win of the season over COS.

Ruskofsky once again paced the offense with 25 kills to go with 17 digs. Wold totaled 49 assists and 17 digs while Bayer added 12 kills.

West Hills is back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 1) when the Falcons travel to Taft College for a 6 p.m. Central Valley Conference match.
