Falcons continue unbeaten start to CVC play with wins vs. Sequoias, Columbia

COALINGA – West Hills College Coalinga surged to its fourth straight win, a 3-2 victory over visiting College of the Sequoias on Friday night.

The Falcons trailed 2-1 but rallied to take the final two sets and the 27-25, 19-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-9 match victory. West Hills is now 4-0 in Central Valley Conference play and sits alone in first place ahead of 3-0 Taft and Fresno City. WHCC evened up its overall record at 6-6.

Zoe Ruskofsky and Beth Moreno had huge matches for WHCC in the win. Ruskofsky totaled 26 kills and 10 digs while Moreno had 20 kills, 15 digs, and 4 aces.

Earlier in the week, West Hills cruised to a 3-0 sweep at home over Columbia College. The Falcons won the match by scores of 25-9, 25-9, 25-10.

Esperanza Garcia had 10 kills, Bailee Costa came up with 15 digs, and Sarah Wold totaled 20 assists to lead the Falcons.

West Hills looks to keep the momentum going on Wednesday (Sep. 27) when the Falcons travel to Porterville College for a 6 p.m. CVC match.
