Falcons claim seven All-CVC postseason honors

Following the close of the 2022 West Hills College Coalinga women's volleyball season, seven members of the Falcons were honored with All-Central Valley Conference postseason awards.

Leading the way were first-team All-CVC honorees Arelis Chavez-Hernandez and Sariya Harris while Lexie Canales was a second-team selection.

Sarah Toles, Kalissa Ortega, Alexia Vancil, and Jaden Threat were all recognized as honorable mention.

Chavez-Hernandez, a sophomore right side hitter out of Madera South High School, led the Falcons with 30 total blocks on the season and added 110 kills (1.90 kills per set).

Harris, a sophomore outside hitter originally from Hoover High School in Fresno, ranked second on the squad with 139 kills and was fourth with 128 digs. She also totaled 17 blocks and 15 aces.

Canales, a sophomore outside hitter and Reedley High School grad, led West Hills in both kills (144) and digs (188). Her 2.18 kills and 2.85 digs per set also were tops on the team.

Toles (So., MB, Hoover HS) had 102 kills and 28 blocks, Ortega (So., S, Minarets HS) totaled 247 assists and 16 aces, Vancil (So., S, Lemoore HS) led the Falcons with 310 assists to go along with 114 digs and 28 aces, and Threat (So., RS, Castro Valley HS) totaled 33 kills and 18 blocks.

Under head coach Jeff Wanderer, West Hills compiled an 11-10 overall record and went 8-8 in the highly-competitive Central Valley Conference to finish in fifth place.
