Falcons close out Modesto tournament with win over Shasta

MODESTO – Ahmadou Aw went off for a season-high 34 points to help lead West Hills College Coalinga to an 82-74 win over Shasta College in the final day of the Modesto Tournament on Saturday.

The Falcons were able to leave town on a winning note after suffering consecutive losses to Sacramento City College (103-66) and Foothill College (70-53) to open the tourney.

Aw was nearly automatic, connecting on 13 of 19 shots from the field. He also added 11 rebounds for a double-double, his fourth of the season.

Devion Edwards also had a double-double, his third of the weekend, with season-highs of 20 points and 17 rebounds. Khamron Miles chipped in with 9 points.

In Friday's loss to Foothill, Edwards led West Hills with 13 points and 10 boards while Deandre Johnson came off the bench to score 11 points.

Edwards opened the tourney with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds against Sacramento City on Thursday. Aw totaled 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists and Samir Boyer contributed 9 points.

West Hills moved to 6-5 overall after the weekend tournament. The Falcons are back in action at home on Wednesday (Dec. 13) when they host Bakersfield College in a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
