Falcons have six earn All-Valley League honors

Six members of the 2021 West Hills College Coalinga football team were recently honored by Valley League coaches with postseason accolades. Named first-team All-Valley League were Preston Conti and Brandon Tryon while Jaice Holt, Juan Donoso, Ramon Ortega, and Rusty Finona were all honorable mention selections.

Preston Conti, a sophomore wide receiver out of Minarets High School, hauled in 34 receptions for 425 yards. Named team captain this season, Conti averaged 12.5 yards per reception and had one touchdown over seven games.

Brandon Tryon, a freshman wide receiver and kick returner, had 34 receptions for 357 yards (10.5 yard per catch) with four receiving touchdowns. On special teams, Tryon returned 10 kicks for 300 yards, averaging 30 yards per return, with one TD. He even tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass in West Hills' final game of the season. The Missouri City, Texas native accounted for six touchdowns in six games.

Sophomore quarterback Jaice Holt came to West Hills from Odgen, Utah and put together an impressive first season. Named a team captain, Holt completed 61 percent of his passes (127 of 210) and averaged 194 passing yards per game. He totaled 10 touchdowns (9 passing, 1 rushing) over seven games.

Freshman linebacker Juan Donoso led the Falcons' defense with 42 total tackles. Originally out of West New York in New Jersey, Donoso had one sack, six tackles for loss, and broke up a pair of passes over seven games.

Sophomore defensive back Ramon Ortega totaled 39 tackles on the season with two tackles for loss, and had one fumble recovery in seven games for West Hills. The Delano High School grad served as a team captain.

Rounding out the all-league honors is freshman defensive back Rusty Finona. He came to Coalinga from Seaside and had 20 tackles and one interception over six games for the Falcons.
