Falcons take flight Friday in 2019 season opener at DVC

The 2019 West Hills College football season officially begins for the Falcons when they take on Diablo Valley College at Viking Stadium in Pleasant Hill on Friday at 6 p.m.

Head coach Justin Berna returns for his third season leading the Falcons. He'll look to build on the Falcons' momentum from 2018 when his squad won two of its final three games. West Hills closed 2018 with a 4-6 overall record and was fourth in the Valley League at 2-3.

West Hills and Diablo Valley face each other in the season opener for the second consecutive season. Making its Northern California Football Conference National Division debut, the Falcons upset the state's 20th-ranked team DVC last year by a final score of 35-29 at Memorial Bowl Stadium.

West Hills will make its home debut next Saturday (Sep. 14) when its hosts Shasta College in a 1 p.m. non-league game. The Falcons play three of their first five games at home before opening Valley League play on Oct. 19 at Sacramento City College.
