Former Falcon, MLB pitcher Bill Landis to throw out first pitch at home opener

After a 3-2 start to open the 2022 season on the road, the West Hills College Coalinga baseball team will finally play its first game of the season at home. The Falcons host City College of San Francisco on Saturday at 1 p.m. in their home opener.

Former Coalinga College standout pitcher and Hanford native Bill Landis is scheduled to throw out the honorary first pitch.

Landis pitched for the Falcons in 1961 before signing a professional baseball contract. He went on to pitch four seasons in majors, including three with the Boston Red Sox.

Following his playing career, Landis served in the Kings County Sherriff's Office until retirement. WHCC is proud to welcome back and honor Bill Landis!
