Defensive Woes Continue as Panthers Sweep Falcons

The Falcons were unable to even the two game series against Hartnell, as 10 defensive errors forced the Falcons into too large a defecit to overcome as they fell to the Panthers 9-3. The Falcons got a very strong performance from starting pitcher Jacob Evangelo, who threw four innings while only allowing three hits and one earned run, while striking out seven Panther hitters. After errors staked the Panthers to a two run lead, the Falcons attempted to even the score in the bottom of the 4th inning as Jake Lorenzini led off the inning with a walk and quickly advanced to third base on a throwing error from Hartnell starting pitcher Jake Hilliker. Lorenzini was brought home by a RBI groundout by Andrew Bladt, making the score 2-1. In the fifth inning, relief pitcher Jesse Garcia came into the game and walked the first three batters he faced. After a RBI single from Adam Tanoue, the Panthers pushed across two more runs on a wild throw from 2b Scotty Ingle on an attempted double play. After another pitching change and a 2 RBI double from Zach Foster, the Panthers went ahead 8-1.

The Falcons only offense came in the 7th inning as Mckay Glines singled to right, followed by a single by Adrian Flores. After a walk to pinch hitter Jacob Duncil, Scotty Ingle hit an opposite field single to left field bringing home Glines and Flores, making the score 9-3. Braydon Peif, Mack Morford, and Mckay Glines combined to throw four shutout innings of relief, but the damage had been done. Scotty Ingle had 3 hits and 2 RBI's, while Flores and Glines both had 2 hits and each scored a run. The Falcons will look to right the ship on Saturday as they travel to Monterey Peninsula College for a 1pm game.
