Five Falcon Sophomores Sign to Compete at the Next Level

Coalinga College is celebrating the success of five standout sophomore student-athletes who have committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions. These student-athletes have shown exceptional dedication both on the field and in the classroom, earning numerous accolades and honors during their time at the college.

#7 Josilynn Alvarez, Corban University (Salem, Oregon)
Josilynn Alvarez, a versatile utility player, has been recognized with a Central Valley Conference Honorable Mention. While at West Hills College, Alvarez played multiple positions including second base, third base, and right field. She graduated with an AA in Liberal Studies - Elementary Teaching and played in 63 games, boasting a career on-base percentage (OBP) of .289. Notably, she was only caught stealing once during her collegiate career. Alvarez has committed to Corban University, an NAIA institution and member of the Cascade Conference, to continue her journey.

#24 Geneva Molina, Waldorf University (Forest City, Iowa)
Geneva Molina, a starting pitcher, also received Central Valley Conference Honorable Mention. She graduated with a degree in psychology for transfer and earned multiple academic honors. Molina made appearances in 55 games and pitched a total of 239 innings for West Hills College. She has committed to Waldorf University, an NAIA institution and member of the GPAC Conference, where she will continue her academic and athletic pursuits.

#2 Denae Ojeda, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (Princess Anne, Maryland)
Denae Ojeda, the Falcons' starting centerfielder, concluded her sophomore season with numerous accolades, including being named First Team All-Conference 2023 & 2024 within the Central Valley Conference. She broke multiple school records, including the 2023 and 2024 Stolen Base Records and the 2023 Runs Scored in a Single Season Record. Ojeda's career stats include 59 runs, 76 hits, 11 doubles, 28 RBIs, 22 walks, 45 stolen bases, a batting average of .341, an OBP of .410, and a slugging percentage of .430. She graduated with an AA in Kinesiology and has committed to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Division I institution and member of the MEAC Conference.

#11 Devree Godinez, Jackson State University (Jackson, Mississippi)
Devree Godinez, a sophomore infielder, earned 2023 & 2024 Second Team All-Conference as a utility player within the Central Valley Conference, playing at second base, shortstop, and third base. She also earned a spot on the NFCA All-Academic Team in 2023. Godinez graduated with an AA in Kinesiology and her career stats include 43 runs, 51 hits, 15 doubles, 31 RBIs, 33 walks, 17 stolen bases, a batting average of .305, an OBP of .426, and a slugging percentage of .455, with only two errors in the Spring of 2024. She has committed to Jackson State University, a Division I institution and member of the SWAC Conference.

#14 Alyssa Maldonado, Waldorf University (Forest City, Iowa)
Alyssa Maldonado wrapped up her tenure at West Hills College with multiple accolades, including 2023 Central Valley Conference Honorable Mention, 2024 Central Valley Conference Second Team All-Conference Middle Infielder, and a spot on the NFCA All-America Academic Team in 2024. She graduated with a Psychology for Transfer AA and earned numerous academic honors. Maldonado's career stats include 60 hits, 16 doubles, 46 RBIs, 23 stolen bases, a batting average of .321, and a slugging percentage of .422. She has committed to Waldorf University, an NAIA institution and member of the GPAC Conference.

These five student-athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and perseverance. Coalinga College is proud of their achievements and wish them the best as they take their talents to the next level.
