The West Hills College Rodeo team is proud to announce that three student-athletes have qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming following their performances at the UNLV Rodeo on May 14-15 in Las Vegas:
Colby Strickland: 2nd place Bull Riding
Trystin Hooper: 2nd place Team Roping Header
Wyatt Hansen: 3rd Place Team Roping Heeler
The Falcons also had three other student-athletes who placed in the top-10 for the season in the West Coast Region:
Wilson Redfeairn: 7th place steer wrestling
Payton Lopez: 4th place Break Away Roping
Maddie Biglow: 8th place Goat Tying
Lastly, the Falcons brought home one of the biggest honors of all. Trystin Hooper's horse, Grizz, was selected West Coast Region Horse of the Year. This award is voted on by all athletes in the region, making it the most prestigious award of them all.
"All and all, we are so proud of all of our student-athletes," said West Hills Rodeo head coach Ryan Smith. "It was a great year and we were represented so well. Next stop, Casper, Wyoming!"
The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) National Finals are set to begin on June 12.
