Jabari Merritt scored a game-high 20 points while Fredery Cuello posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to help lead West Hills College Coalinga to a huge 104-55 win over visiting El Camino College on Saturday in the Falcons' 2021-22 season-opener.
After a close first half that saw West Hills hold a 46-41 lead, the Falcons turned up the pressure on defense, holding El Camino (0-2) to just 14 points over the final 20 minutes.
West Hills had five scoring in double-digits. Along with Merritt and Cuello's nig games, the Falcons got 15 points and 5 assists from Tyrell Edwards, 13 points from Khyree Reese, as well as 12 points and 6 rebounds from Brian Rice.
Devion Edwards also had a solid game with 10 rebounds to go with 6 points.
The Falcons return to action on Nov. 13 when they travel to Cerro Coso College for a 3 p.m. game.
