Freshman guard Trevon Perry led West Hills College Coalinga with 23 points and 10 rebounds but the Falcons still couldn't come away with a win and lost 78-68 at Merced College in a Central Valley Conference game on Wednesday night.
West Hills played well in the first half and trailed the Blue Devils by just two points, 37-35, at halftime. But Merced outscored the Falcons 41-33 in the second to pull out the win.
Another rough night shooting doomed the Falcons. West Hills made just 25 of 68 shots in the game and was 14 for 26 at the free throw line.
Perry and Tyrell Edwards carried the offense. Edwards added 15 points while Fredery Cuello contributed 8 points and 9 rebounds.
Just three games remain for the Falcons as they fell to 0-25 overall and 0-11 in the CVC after the loss. They next host Porterville College on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 6 p.m.
