Quarterback Jaice Holt passed for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns for West Hills College Coalinga in a 63-21 loss at Fresno City College on Saturday.
An overmatched Falcons football team couldn't keep up with the Rams offense. Fresno City totaled 609 yards of offense, including 381 yards on the ground.
Despite the lopsided final score, the game started off close. After a FCC touchdown on its opening drive, West Hills got a 90-yard kickoff return from Brandon Tryon for a touchdown to even up the score at 7-7.
But Fresno City responded with 21 straight points to jump ahead for good. Holt tossed an 11-yard TD to Preston Conti with 34 seconds left in the first to break up the Rams' scoring surge.
Holt connected with Iverson Braziel for a 28-yard touchdown with 1:57 to go in the second quarter to send the Falcons into halftime trailing 42-21.
That would be all the scoring for the Falcons as Fresno City closed out the contest with 21 points over the second half.
Holt completed 20 of 33 passes with Conti as his top target. Conti caught 6 passes for 76 yards and a TD.
Samuel Maldonado led West Hills on defense with 7 tackles.
The Falcons, now 0-6 and 0-3 in National Valley League play, return to action next Saturday (Nov. 13) when they host Sacramento City College at the Memorial Bowl. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
